This journalist, in Ukraine, who faked his assassination…
I don’t know exactly why. He feared the real one. To be killed because he sticked his nose in things….
Then I thought about Anna Politkovskaya, who’s been murdered in Moscow in 2006 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Politkovskaya – I read her books about Chechen war.
Then I thought about Svetlana Alexievich, who got the Literature Nobel Prize in 2015. I read almost of her books, including The Last of the Soviets, which is a real Masterpiece.
Then I thought about the Werth family. The father Alexander who followed the Russian front when the Germans began to flow back. The son Nicolas who wrote great books on Russian peasants under communism, for example.
Then I thought about Chekhov, Pushkin, Turgenev, Arsenyev… so many books!
Then I thought of this big country, under Communism for decades, this people.
I’ve never been to Russia, but Russians have been with me since I know how to read!
