Carl Larsson, Swedish painter

I discovered this girl, reading on a bench with her cat and her dog, something like 30 years ago. I remember I took a picture… But what? No Internet at this time. I was let alone with a name. I forgot the name but not this watercolor masterpiece.

This week I found another picture, a red apron, and my instinct clicked : it’s the guy who painted the girl on the bench. I checked on Pinterest and found it quickly.

Carl Larsson (1853-1919).

Yes it’s an “academic pleasure”, like Rockwell or Hopper. When Christmas comes closer, it’s a good thing!

Have a nice Swedish day!

On our need to be disturbed…

When you think about the Comfort Zone concept, you think also about the “Outside” of this zone.

Wiki says : A comfort zone is a psychological state in which things feel familiar to a person and they are at ease and in control of their environment, experiencing low levels of anxiety and stress. In this zone, a steady level of performance is possible.

Let’s say that we all need to live in this zone !

And also that we can get to the moment when we need to be disturbed. This moment is the subjet of my little post.

A gut feeling of being stuck ? I can last for a long time, and I think it triggers a tension, a wait, an expectation. I think that a part of ourselves, then, is ready to be opened. Something’s unlocked. Or something’s watching.

The nature of the needed change is interesting. It can be a complete change of life (divorce, changing country, new job, etc), but also an inner rotation, a new way of seeing things (it can be activated by an accident, a illness, a grief). I can be adding something (a new activity, a new language, a new passion, a new friend) to our life, like a new room in a house.

Our need to be disturbed is our need to displace the boundaries, the frontiers of our Comfort Zone, which sometimes becomes boring, all sugar or bitter, or stationery. Our need to be disturbed is a need for fresh air, for movement, and for climbing.

Not necessarily more intense, but maybe more Complex-in-a-good-way.

This second when your brain clicks and you say “Oh et puis merde !”.

This state of mind when you reach this strong need… You’re just ready to welcome any events coming in your direction ! You will maybe dare to do unusual things, just to watch what happens. You can pray. You can move. You can rotate your own mindsets…

What pack of tools will you use, there ? What do you activate ? Will you decide something and push, or will you just lazily and craftily watch what is disturbing you, to weave a dance  with you have around ? Do you have a friend who can… disturb you when you need ?

What happens when you have been too much disturbed ? What is the feeling of coming home (in our comfort zone, of course) ? Did you grow up ? Have your comfort zone boundaries moved ? Is it larger, or smaller ?

(to be continued)

(sorry for my quirky english)

Thanks for reading !
